DESCRIPTION

DESCRIPTION OF THE BUILDINGS

After being chosen as a headquarter by the Germans first and the Allied then, the villa (2,500 sqm) underwent a recent restoration which brought it back to its original splendor.

The entrance of the villa is located on the ground floor and opens up in an ample hall leading to all the rooms of the building. All the rooms are organized in circle around the central main staircase. All the rooms are frescoed and the floors are made out of prestigious woods.

A beautiful wooden library with frescoes of some of the old members of the family leads to two ample living rooms, also frescoed. From here, a beautiful corridor/hallway with painted landscapes on the walls lead to a further living room with wardrobe and to another sitting room with dining hall. The kitchen, reached from the dining room, has been recently renovated and is fully equipped. Finally, there is the last windowed room leading to the terrace with view over the garden.

The first floor includes four suites, each with its own panoramic terrace; a bedroom and a bathroom. All of the bathrooms are covered in marble and covered in paintings on the ceilings.

The second floor is instead made out of two suites with view.

From here one can reach a tower, laid out onto three floors connected by a winding staircase, where one can find seven bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The farmhouse, laid out onto two floors, includes stables, a cellar and a small warehouse in the basement plus two apartments on the first and second floor.

- Apartment N°1: living room with fireplace, kitchen, double bedroom with en-suite bathroom on the first floor and two bedrooms with bathroom on the second floor;

- Apartment N°2: living room and kitchen on the first floor, two bedrooms with bathroom on the second floor.

Right in front of the farmhouse are located a covered terrace, a garage with three car spots, two rooms used as offices and a storage house. Finally, the property is completed by a barn, a greenhouse, an orangery, an old pigsty and a wine cellar.

EXTERNAL AREA

The villa is surrounded by 11 hectares of land with park, hazelnut trees, olive grove and truffle ground. A beautiful garden with amphitheater, paths, swan lake and fountains further enrich the visuals.

The term Castle derives from castellum which, in turn, derives from Castrum, a Latin term that refers to a military settlement. It is, in fact, in Roman times that we find the first elements of castles, architectural structures that become even more important with the advent of the barbarians. These peoples, nomads and mostly devoted to hunting and war, were also particularly ferocious and it was therefore required to fortify the already existing military facilities.

With the fall of the Roman Empire and the advent of the Middle Ages the decentralization of power required the creation of different types of fortification. At the beginning the scene was dominated by the watch towers whose purpose was primarily military.

The different economic and social structure, typical of the Middle Ages, then, required the creation of fortified towns. The castle became, therefore, the nucleus of a decentralized economy that, from the city, now moved to the countryside. That’s why the castle appeared as real fortified village.

In modern times, with the advent of various forms of fortification, the castle lost its defensive role. The various castles began, therefore, to be converted into residences for noble families.
Currently many of the castles in Italy and Europe are in need of renovation and therefore represent an unique opportunity to give a new life to a piece of history.

Owning a castle, live in a castle and, even more, to revive a castle is surely one of the most exciting experiences of life.
